Wireless USB WHCI Host Reference Solution

The Staccato’s Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI) Reference Design Kit (RDK) includes all the necessary hardware, software, docu­mentation, design files, and manufacturing test support required to reduce the time and complexity typically associated with getting complex products to market. Staccato’s WHCI RDK is built on industry standard technologies to ensure broad interoperability and worldwide deployment. This reference design is targeted towards Notebook PCs, Tablet PCs, and Ultra-Mobile PCs manufactures who are seeking the cost and performance benefits that Staccato’s highly integrated Ripcord2 WHCI solution provides. 

At the heart of the WHCI RDK is the WiMedia Wireless USB (WUSB) based Ripcord2 SC4503C single-chip UWB solution.  Operating in WiMedia Band Groups 1, 3 and 6, the SC4503C integrates the RF front end, digital Baseband, MAC, and PCIe 1.1 endpoint interface providing a complete, low cost single-chip WHCI solution. The SC4503C supports WHCI as defined by the USB-IF, providing the highest possible performance for PC host applications. Implemented in a leading 65nm standard CMOS process technology, with inherently superior size and power, the single-chip WHCI solution supports all mandatory and optional data rate modes (from 53.3 Mbps to 480 Mbps) and all data communication is supported over a secure wireless link using 128-bit AES hardware encryption.
