Staccato Communications designed and architected the Ripcord® Product Family to offer the most complete products for our customers and to support volume markets in PC, CE and mobile. The Ripcord® portfolio of single-chip, all-CMOS solutions enables Certified Wireless USB, High-Speed Bluetooth, WiMedia WLP and other UWB protocols atop the WiMedia Common Radio Platform to enable a broad range of new applications.
The Ripcord2™ family is Staccato's 2nd generation of single-chip all-CMOS solutions for WiMedia Ultra-Wideband applications. Ripcord2 has been developed in a leading 65nm standard CMOS process technology, with inherently superior size and power, and an unprecedented level of integration. With the exception of an antenna and filter, the RF front-end is entirely on-chip, as is the high-performance digital baseband, MAC, and host IO.
The Ripcord® 1 product family is implemented using leading 110nm digital CMOS process technology and is offered in a Wafer-Level Chip Scale Package (WCSP) which provides a low-cost, small-form factor solution optimized for easy integration into devices.
Staccato designed the Protocol Independent Kernel™ to allow Staccato’s products to support multiple protocols. In addition to Certified Wireless USB, the Ripcord family is extensible to support simultaneous operation of High-Speed Bluetooth, WLP, Ripcord Streaming Services and other protocols over the same silicon globally.
